Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate (BRMA) is looking for 1 energetic, motivated Americorps member for the 2015-16 year. BRMA is a comprehensive support program for students in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. The purpose of both positions is to provide Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School students with a positive out-of-school learning experience by being a useful academic resource, providing encouragement and being a positive role model. Middle School Tutorial and Academic Enrichment Coordinator:
MS Coordinator works with students at a 4 day/week after school tutorial for MS students. This person works with the HS Coordinator to provide academic support for students at an evening tutorial, two evenings/week. Tutorials may include study skills lessons, guest speakers or other activities as determined by coordinator and BRMA staff. This position is also responsible for recruiting, training and scheduling tutors for weekly tutorial sessions. This person will also work in conjunction with the Middle School Specialist to plan and implement academic enrichment opportunities for students.

All applicants should have experience working in an academic setting with students, preferably experience with students of color, possess an open mind to the capabilities of and futures of all students, have a willingness to persevere and support a student regardless of obstacles, and be willing to devote 100% of your efforts to the students’ needs. BRMA requires a 40 hour/week commitment.
Salary: $12,000.00 /year and an education award
