TITLE: Executive Director for School Leadership and Talent Development
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or educational leadership/administration.
- Valid supervisory or administrative certificate.
- Prior successful experience as a school administrator.
- Prior successful experience as a principal, preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Other qualifications that are acceptable to the Board of Education.
SUPERVISES: Some principals and support personnel, as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services
JOB GOAL: To provide support and guidance for school leaders to implement district priorities and programs; to facilitate professional development for school leaders; and to facilitate school-based programs to improve student achievement, including summer school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures a strong pipeline of talent for the district by proactively building strategic partnerships and building systems to attract and identify aspiring educators with potential to be excellent teachers and leaders.
- Designs development pathways for district leaders linked to the evaluation system, working closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services to develop and manage principal induction and mentorship programs and professional development programs specifically designed for leaders.
- Ensures that school leaders are the key performance managers at the building level, enabling each principal to support teachers and support staff as they progress in Project ADVANCE.
- Serves as a key member of the Instructional Services Division executive team, acting as a thought partner and ensuring that leadership decisions consider the implications for the district’s professional culture and ability to attract and retain high quality professionals.
- Provides expert knowledge and coaching concerning school leadership to principals and assistant principals; and supports principals in the implementation and monitoring of the district instructional programs and priorities by planning and leading level principal meetings.
- Works with principals to plan and implement improvement in student achievement, including working directly with schools in School Improvement Status.
- Coordinates district projects that involve school leaders, including summer school, Ready Schools and early childhood education.
- Collaborates with district coordinators to provide information and support to schools to provide leadership for the design, articulations, and monitoring of the district’s instructional program.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director of Professional Learning to design leadership development programs in alignment with the district long range plan for school and district leaders to ensure district policies, procedures, programs, and instructional frameworks are implemented with fidelity.
- Collaborates with district coordinators and school leaders in the identification of new and innovative programs based on current research, trends and practices in PreK-12 education.
- Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, and assigning of school-based personnel as appropriate.
- Serves as primary contact and support for principals for questions about school-based issues, and responds to parents concerning school-based issues.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing and repetitive motion. The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month, 100% position on two-year contract. Salary is in accordance with the provisions of the School Board policy for administrators.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Board policy on Evaluation of Central Office Administrators.
